Du hast auf Deiner Benutzerseite so eine nette Sprachumschaltung. Wie wird diese eingegeben. Freu mich über kurze Info. - englischen Text habe ich schon, ist aber bei deutscher Spracheinstellung etwas unglücklich. Danke schon mal! so richtig weiß ich nicht, was du meinst - aber ich ahne es. Es gibt viele Wege, von denen ich einige ausnutze. Ich weiß jetzt nicht, wie sehr du dich mit den Parser-Funktionen aus MediaWiki und Templates auskennst. Die Spracheinstellung aus den User-Einstellungen kann man mit en abfragen und entsprechend ausnutzen. Das passiert aber relativ selten. Ansonsten gibt es zum Beispiel die Templates {{LangSwitch}} und andere, die aber auch bei LangSwitch aufgeführt sind. Dieses Template nutze ich relativ häufig. Sprachspezifische Templates wie {{De}} oder {{En}} nutze ich vor allem bei Beschreibungen. Die sprachabhängige Anzeige ist bei Commons relativ schwierig. Neben der allgemeinen Einstellung lohnt ein Blick in die User-Einstellungen. So zwischen den Zeilen findet man dann auch den Hinweis, dass die Babelboxen auf der User-Seite eine Auswirkung auf die Anzeige haben. @Wikisympathisant: Trivial ist bei Commons so gut wie gar nichts. Wie heißt es "Viele Köche ...". Die Sachen aus MediaWiki - der Software - klappen ganz gut. Bei dem Templates geht so gut wie jeder seinen eigenen Weg. Nur die weit verbreiteten sind gut unterstützt. Man gewöhnt sich daran. Was willst du denn sprachabhängig machen? Einen schönen Sonntag X-Ray (- nachdem X-Ray doch Röntgenstrahlung bedeutet: Du arbeitest aber schon mit sichtbarem Licht, oder ;-))

mit gar nichts trivial, da sagst Du was: es hilft mir insofern, als ich mich hin- und wieder hier durchkämpfte, aber von meinen begrenzten Fähigkeiten ausging.

Sprachabhängig: Ich ging davon aus, dass auch en-user meine Benutzerseite sehen, deswegen hatte ich englischen Text, sah aber nun bewusst, dass es aber eine deutsche Benutzerseite ist. Der erste Ansatz/Idee war eine automatische Sprachanpassung oder ein Knopf wie bei Dir. - Da aber mein Text überschaubar ist, habe ich eine dt. Passage ergänzt. Frage ist aber, welcher user mit welcher Sprache sieht was? Das interessiert mich generell, wenn Du da (außer einer einfachen Lösung) etwas weißt ... @Wikisympathisant: Englisch ist immer die Rückfallmöglichkeit. Gibst du nichts an, wird der Text auf jeden Fall angezeigt. (Auf deiner Userpage ist nichts angegeben, so werden beide Texte angezeigt. Ich stelle auch gerne mal die Sprache um, um zu sehen, wie sie in der jeweiligen Sprache dargestellt wird.) Bei mehreren Sprachen je nach Einstellung. Wenn Englisch dabei ist, wird spätestens dieser Text angezeigt. Du kannst also eine Konstruktion wie diese verwenden:

Das ist dann gleichbedeutend:

Ich verwende die zweite Option, habe die Texte aber auf eigene Unterseiten ausgelagert. Das sieht dann so aus:

(X-Ray war wirklich der Hintergedanke bei dem Usernamen XRay. Mittlerweile hätte ich allerdings lieber meinen echten Namen - existiert als zweiter Account: User:Dietmar Rabich. Bei den Fotos ist das praktischer. Auf der einen Seite finde ich das lizenztechnisch praktischer, auf der anderen Seite kommen gerade Leute außerhalb der Wikimedia-Welt besser damit klar. Das Ändern eines Benutzernamens geht zwar, ist aber in der Komplexität, wie ich die Wikimedia-Funktionen nutze, aus meienr Sicht viel zu riskant und fehlerbehaftet.) --XRay 💬 10:33, 5 November 2023 (UTC)

Recent changes

• In the Vector 2022 skin, the default font-size of a number of navigational elements (tagline, tools menu, navigational links, and more) has been increased slightly to match the font size used in page content. [1]

Problems

• Last week, there was a problem displaying some recent edits on a few wikis, for 1-6 hours. The edits were saved but not immediately shown. This was due to a database problem. [2]

Changes later this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 November. It will be on all wikis from 9 November (calendar).
• The Growth team will reassign newcomers from former mentors to the currently active mentors. They have also changed the notification language to be more user-friendly. [3][4]

Recent changes

• Four new wikis have been created:
  • a Wikipedia in Moroccan Amazigh (w:zgh:) [5]
  • a Wikipedia in Dagaare (w:dga:) [6]
  • a Wikipedia in Toba Batak (w:bbc:) [7]
  • a Wikiquote in Banjar (q:bjn:) [8]

Problems

• Last week, users who previously visited Meta-Wiki or Wikimedia Commons and then became logged out on those wikis could not log in again. The problem is now resolved. [9]
• Last week, some pop-up dialogs and menus were shown with the wrong font size. The problem is now resolved. [10]

Changes later this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 14 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 15 November. It will be on all wikis from 16 November (calendar).

Future changes

• Reference Previews are coming to many wikis as a default feature. They are popups for references, similar to the PagePreviews feature. You can opt out of seeing them. If you are using the gadgets Reference Tooltips or Navigation Popups, you won’t see Reference Previews. Deployment is planned for November 22, 2023.
• Canary (also known as heartbeat) events will be produced into Wikimedia event streams from December 11. Streams users are advised to filter out these events, by discarding all events where meta.domain == "canary". Updates to Pywikibot or wikimedia-streams will discard these events by default. [11]

Of course any exceptional photo can become FP, and we usually create the galleries as photos get promoted and the sum of them outgrow the existing galleries. But we realized that people are less likely to be positive to photo styles and techniques if a gallery didn't already exist. Frustrating! So we are going to fix that, for more diversified FPs.
